High Five for Friday – June 12, 2015

So….I was unable to post last week (life happened), but I am back with another High Five for Friday and a brief rundown of why this week rocked!

1) Nice People
I went to Starbucks this morning, as I do most mornings.  This morning I was silently judging the guy from Florida in front of me (I was run off of the road by a Florida driver last week) and I get up to the window to pay and my drink was wrong.  The Barista went back to remake it and then came to the window with my venti caramel extra shot no whip Frappuccino and said, “the guy in front of you paid for yours, have a good one!”  Of course I felt so bad for assuming that he was a jerk just because he had a Florida license plate.  Then I felt an overwhelming sense of heart-warming joy and the need to pay it forward!  So, yes!  There are nice people out there and they will randomly brighten up your gloomy morning once in a while!  Thank you nice folks!

2) Fresh veggies from the garden
Last night we had our first harvest from this year’s garden, which is doing so well!  I harvested about a pound of fresh green beans.  We had them with dinner and they stole the show!  I don’t think I have had green beans that fresh since I helped my grandmother pick them from their farm and trimmed them in the car port before dinner….ahhhh memories!

3) Wonderful friends
On Sunday, we went to a birthday party for our dear friend Wendy.  Her husband works with Jon and we always have a blast hanging out with them and their son.  We had an al fresco dinner of low country boil and crab legs under the trees on a warm southern summer evening.  It was delightful!  I have also had the pleasure of talking with all of my besties this week and am constantly reminded of the abundance of love in my life!

4) Unexpected blessings
This week was like any other until Wednesday, when I was blessed with an unexpected gift.  I had spent all of Tuesday fretting about financial issues and out of the blue on Wednesday, the Lord, was like, “Hey!  Stop worrying!  You know I’ll always provide for you and when you least expect it, I will bless you beyond your wildest dreams!” and He did!  I am a firm believer that if we hold fast to our faith and trust that we will never be given more than we can handle and will always have what we need, we will always be okay!  I had gotten really down and worried about a lot of things this week, but leave it to our all-knowing, all-powerful Lord to stop our worries dead in their tracks and bring us back to the reality that we are LOVED!

5) Buffett!
We got to see Jimmy Buffett!!!  Ok, this happened last week, but I am still on a high from it!  It’s been 15 years since my last Buffett show and it was everything I hoped for and MORE!  He sang all of my favorites and the classics and we had a suite at the arena for the show!  It was AWESOME!  We sang, wore leis, danced and made some new friends too!  I think the first song I learned as a child was ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ so Jimmy’s music was literally the soundtrack of my youth!  Love me some Buffett!
