Yes, I work in a windowless, fluorescent-lit office and sit behind a computer screen all day, so I am of course one of those people that starts doing the Friday happy dance on Thursday nights! I love the energy that Fridays bring…everyone is more positive, more energetic, and just darn-tootin’ ready to have some fun!
This post will mark the beginning of my High Five for Friday posts. So, let me share with you the 5 highlights of the past week…
1) Photoshopping like MAD!
I recently visited the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and have hundreds of awesome photos to play with. Each night this week, I have been able to come home and totally immerse myself in Photoshop, touching up my favorite trip memories, and getting them ready to share!
2) Evening Thundershowers.
I love this time of year…each day in the late afternoon, the clouds creep in, the sky darkens, the wind picks up, and most days we get a brief thunderstorm that adds a bit of excitement and wonderment to our evening. Some days are better than others, but there is nothing quite like savoring a glass of sweet tea whilst thumbing through the latest edition of Garden & Gun as the sky rumbles and the smell of fresh rain creeps in.
3) Gardening!
This year I planted a raised bed garden and filled it with tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, herbs, and peppers. This week, the first teenie little tomatoes appeared! The peas are flowering and herbs are already providing a seemingly endless supply of fresh accompaniments to our meals. I am looking forward to having more fresh veggies that I know what to do with and sharing our bounty with friends and family.
4) Showing some good ‘ol U.S. of A. Pride!
Ok, I love this country and the brave men and women that have and still do make the freedom we enjoy possible! I therefore love all things red, white, and blue. Even my pants got into the spirit as the Memorial Day celebrations of the past weekend spilled into this week. I donned my navy and white star embroidered capris and made a red, white, and blue burlap, denim, and chevron wreath for the front door.
5) Comin’ Home!
I have a wonderful, amazing, awesome boyfriend, Jon, who unfortunately travels A LOT for work and this Friday he returns from yet another week in North Dakota. One of the highlights of each day is seeing his smiling face walk through the door in the evening and today, he’ll be doing that after having been gone for several days. I am really looking forward to seeing that smile and spending the evening with the love of my life, a nice dinner, and a glass of good wine.
Happy Friday, Y’all! High Five! We made it!
